But paying for a massage is just splurging at a day at the spa right??!!

Massage therapy is not just for people who want to pamper themselves.
I will tell you, I get body work done twice a month, and if I miss an appointment it quickly becomes clear to me how beneficial just the simple act of laying hands on by another human is. This last week was a bit ruff with the season change, and I dragged myself into my therapist feeling like a hunch back with shoulders rolled forward, tightness in my tissue from my clavicle to my pubic bone, and my whole torso pointing to the left while my feet pointed straight ahead of me. After two minutes of being there my torso was already realigned. After the hour session I could stand up straight. And by the next day, I wasn't having my season change issues of being freezing and blue for no good reason. This experience really cemented the fact for me that regular massage therapy and body work are largely beneficial to us as organic beings to help maintain our physical and emotional wellness even if we don't have an injury or problem in particular that needs to be worked on.
So if bodywork and massage therapy is something you have been wanting to try out, but you have this misconception that you would just be splurging on something that you don't really deserve anyway, try changing your mindset to one of being self care positive. Talk to a local massage therapist about it, and keep in mind that many of us are powerfully motivated by wanting to help people and this is how we can make a difference in the world. Also, independent therapists are all small business owners, so you will be supporting an entrepreneur that is out to better the world, and what's better than that?
